My
laboratory studies the biological and molecular processes driving Central
Nervous System malignancies focusing primarily on Glioblastoma, one of the most
devastating cancers. Understanding of the biological and genetic determinants of
this malignancy will no doubt result in major clinical advances.
One
of our major research programs is the development and testing of targeted
therapeutics in genetically modified mouse models of glioblastoma which are
based on gene mutations found in human tumors. In addition, we focus on key
basic research questions including functional elucidation of specific gene
mutations in the tumorigenic program of glioblastomas and to determine how the
cellular context in which the mutations occur influences the outcome of these
genetic lesions.
